When not to flush
Do not flush on a septic system unless the installer has told you it is fine. Do not flush in a rented flat where the drain is shared and you will not be the one paying for the blockage. Some water utilities ask you not to flush cat waste at all, so check yours before you start.
Skip these picks if flushing is the only reason you want them. Every flushable bag here costs more per day to run than the clay on our bench, and if the litter ends up in a bin anyway you have paid a premium for a feature you never use.

What makes a litter flushable in the first place?
It is made of plant matter that softens and falls apart in water instead of setting hard. Clay does the opposite, which is why no clay litter is flushable and why a clay clump in a toilet is a plumber call.
Do flushable litters clump as hard as clay?

Can I flush a whole box at once?
