PrettyLitter is a silica crystal litter whose pack promise is a color-changing formula. Buyers get it wrong in one specific way: they expect it to clump. It does not. It scored 4.2 out of 10 on clumping, the lowest number on this page by a distance, and that is the design, not a fault.
What it does instead, it does very well. Odor scored 8.9 out of 10, the best score on its card. Ammonia over our box read 1 ppm at week one, 3 ppm at week two, 10 ppm at week three and 25 ppm at week four, so two quiet weeks is realistic. Tracking scored 9.1 and dust scored 8.6, so the floor around the box stays clean. Overall it took 8.8 out of 10.
The bill is the argument against it. $24.00 a bag works out at $4.00 a pound and $0.80 a day, and value is its weakest score at 6.8. We also never weighed its dust: the crystal pour gave us no milligram reading, so where other litters on this site show a number, PrettyLitter shows not measured. We did not test the color change either.

Does PrettyLitter clump?
No. It scored 4.2 out of 10 on clumping because it is a crystal litter, not a clumping one. You lift solids daily and stir the crystals; urine is absorbed rather than balled up. If you want clumps, a clay like Dr. Elsey’s Ultra scores 9.8.
How long does one bag of PrettyLitter last?
Our readings say the box goes quiet for about two weeks and is done by week four. Ammonia read 1 ppm at week one, 3 ppm at week two, 10 ppm at week three and 25 ppm at week four, when our tester logged the crystals as saturated. That run covered 2 cats in 2 homes over 60 days.
Does the color change really spot health problems?
We cannot tell you. Our bench measures dust, clumping, odor, tracking and cost, and we did not test the health claim on the pack. Nothing on this page confirms or denies it, and a color on litter is not a diagnosis from a vet.
